Betws-Y-Coed is considered one of the more beautiful places in the world. Some people identify it as the gateway village to Snowdonia’s National Park, although on the outskirts it sure doesn’t lack in impressiveness. Surrounded by lakes, deep forests, cobbled roads and hidden valleys, when visiting us at our Glan Aber Hotel be sure to explore the surrounding area and all its beauty.
Gwydyr Forest
One of the most well sought after tourist attractions, Gwydyr Forest, is a 28 square mile forest flourishing with oak, beech and larch trees that survive back from 1920’s. The forest is ideal for a day of walking, but it can get very muddy in wet weather, so make sure you pack those wellies if you plan on exploring the forest on your next trip.
Head north of the forest and you will see the Gwydyr Mawr Mountain Bike Trail which runs through Betws-Y-Coed. The trail starts at Llanwrst and runs for 16 miles through the forest.
So, whether you’re looking for an adrenaline adventure or tranquil trip, Gwydyr Forest has something for everyone.
Zip World Fforest
This idyllic woodland is home to the new and exciting thrill seeking adventure which is Zip World. Take a journey through the Conwy Valley and try a Zip Safari, bounce til your hearts content on the Treetop Nets or if you prefer try out their giant five seater swing! As well as these amazing adventures to sink your teeth into why not try out their Fforest Coaster, allowing you to dart through the trees. Once you’ve tired from a full day of adventure stop off at the Fforest Caffi for refuel.

Go Below is a new way to experience adventure in Snowdonia. Using an abandoned and disused mine you can explore the great underground. Before setting off to the mine you will be kitted out with all the essentials such as helmet, headlamp, harness and wellies. This caving experience is like no other, and doesn’t feature the usual tight gaps so is perfect for everyone to enjoy.

Experience even more fun underground with this net adventure, the first of it’s kind in the world. You can now jump and slide your way through this underground playground – an experience like no other. Not only that, you can even zip line through the huge slate cavern too!
There’s a lot of fun and adventure to be had for the whole family in and around Betws-y-Coed and Snowdonia, and we’ve only listed a few. You will never be bored here in Betws-Y-Coed with a variety of things to get stuck in with, and what’s great is that after a long day of adventure you can come back to a comfortable night’s sleep and do it all again tomorrow.
